An exhibition of Contemporary Serbian Iconography organized by the Institute for Christianity and Culture in Belgrade was officially opened at the Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Chicago on Saturday, September 8, 2012.
The exhibition was formally opened by the Cathedral Dean Fr. Darko Spasojević, who said: “We are very pleased to host this exhibition, the first of this kind in our city, and we hope that this will lead to further similar projects, promoting that way Serbian sacred art and contributing to the raising interest for this kind of art in our community.”
Explaining the exhibition and the intention of the exhibition organizers, Professor Davor Džalto, President of the Institute for Christianity and Culture, said “We are pleased to bring you this exhibition which presents the work of seven contemporary Serbian iconographers whose art is innovative and yet deeply rooted in the Orthodox Christian life, tradition and experience.”
The exhibition coincided with the annual assembly of Orthodox bishops from North America, which took place at the Cathedral.
