Exhibition – “The Light of Icons: Exhibition of Contemporary Serbian Iconography”, June 27–July 11, 2014, Palace of the Zepter International, Moscow, Russian Federation

The Palace of the Zepter International in Moscow hosted the exhibition of contemporary Serbian iconography “The Light of Icons,” organized by the Institute for the Study of Culture and Christianity, with the support of the Embassy of Republic of Serbia in Moscow and Lider Magazine.
The exhibition presented icons from three monastic workshops, from the Žiča Monastery, Gradac and Nova Pavlica.
The exhibition opening began by welcoming addresses by H.E. Mr. Slavenko Terzić, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Russian Federation, and Mr. Igor Nikolayevich Slyunyayev, Government Minister of Regional Development of the Russian Federation.
Mr. Terzić emphasized the importance of the exhibition from the perspective of the long-term cooperation between Serbia and Russia.
Mr. Slyunyayev stressed the importance of this and other initiatives of the Institute for the Study of Culture and Christianity, given the need to inform better the Russian public about contemporary tendencies in Serbian iconography and culture.
Following these introductory speeches, Mr. Mario Janković, Director of the Zepter International in Moscow, Fr. Sergije Antić, representative of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Moscow, and Fr. Ignatije Sestakov, representative of the Russian Orthodox Church, greeted the guests as well, expressing their words of support for this project.
The exhibition was formally opened by Ms. Danijela Marković, Vice President of The Institute for the Study of Culture and Christianity. She greeted the high guests and all the visitors on behalf of Prof. Dr Davor Džalto, president of the Institute. On behalf of the Institute, Ms. Marković expressed words of gratitude to the representatives of the Russian Government and His Excellency, for their presence and their kind words, as well as to all those who supported the project, first of all to Ms. Suzana Moskovljević and Lider Magazine, and the Zepter International.
Among many representatives of the Russian political, religious and cultural life, the exhibition opening was also attended by representatives of the most successful Serbian companies in Russia.
