Workshop “Religiously Motivated Activism in the Regional Peace Processes”, February 16, 2014, Ecclesia Viminaciensis Educational Center, Požarevac, Serbia (organized in cooperation with the Centre for the Study of Religion, Politics, and Society from Novi Sad under the patronage of the National Endowment for Democracy.)
The workshop “Religiously Motivated Activism in the Regional Peace Processes” took place at the Ecclesia Viminaciensis Educational Center in Požarevac on Sunday, February 16, 2014. Members of the Department of Culture and Education of the Orthodox Diocese of Braničevo, priests, deacons and teachers of religious educations of the Diocese participated in the workshop. The participants analyzed the concept of transitional justice using the examples of various religions in the world and in the Balkans.
The workshop began with a welcoming address by Dr. Nikola Knežević, from the Centre for the Study of Religion, Politics, and Society, Aleksandar Šibul, psychologist and psychotherapist, and Danijela Marković, Vice President of the Institute for the Study of Culture and Christianity.
The working part of the workshop began with the lecture by proto-deacon Zlatko Matić, the secretary of the Board for education and culture.
Dr. Nikola Knežević was the second speaker. He talked about “Participation of Religion in processes of transitional justice and reconciliation”.
In the afternoon session, Aleksandar Šibul gave a presentation on “Neuropsychology of Forgiveness.”
All presentations were followed by comprehensive discussions.
